“My story began in September 1978 when I was involved in a serious Road Traffic Accident where I almost lost my foot.  I had surgery where one pin was placed into my ankle but I could never walk flat on the floor.  Sadly in 2010 I was told I needed an ankle fusion due to osteoarthritis.  Unfortunately the fusion worked but I was left with year on year worsening pain due to osteoarthritis in all joints in my right foot especially the mid foot.

Things took a worse toll and my left foot then became arthritic together with both knees due to the extra pressure on that side.

I love going out in nature and was becoming very frustrated.  I kept saying to my husband I am not going to have a mobility scooter until at least I am 70.  That is when after  I had been searching long searching for a scooter I came across your website and was enthralled by a video of a man in London using one. I had been looking hard for months to find a scooter which would fit in my BMW convertible as the car had been a gift from my husband 7 years prior and I was so in love with it.

We tried to find a solution and we went to see Cavendish Healthcare in Torquay in Devon who recommended the ATTO Sport.  I was so excited to find it would fit in the boot of my car (in 2 parts) that I broke down in tears.  I had been waiting for this moment for so long.

The biggest challenges I faced without a scooter were being able to visit the places I loved as I just couldn’t walk.  I so much wanted to enjoy time with my gorgeous family and grandchildren and felt I was letting them down.

The first time I used my scooter I was so incredibly pleased with it.  It was sturdy, but it was so easy to handle and it even went over cobblestones and uneven terrain.  I was well impressed.  We live on a massive hill and it goes up very well.  It is also trendy and many people comment on the size of the battery and how the scooter looks very modern.

We took it to North Wales in April this year for a week’s holiday and I have to say it really did transform my life.  To go around beautiful lakes was a godsend as I am very much into iphoneography.  I even carried a little bag on it with a picnic and my walking stick too.  I loved the fact that I felt secure on it and the tyres are puncture proof. Not forgetting the amazing lights which were very handy in the dark.

The features that stand out for me are the fact it is very manouverable in tight spaces.  The fact that it is so quick to put up and down.  I love the fact it can be pulled along as a suitcase and is aeroplane friendly. I also find a big bonus is the USB charger as you can imagine charging your phone going along is a massive bonus especially if you’re like me and take tons of photos/videos.

It really has given me confidence that I had lost.  At first I thought everyone was going to stare at me but in fact it is the contrary.  I think my biggest achievement was driving it around Marks and Spencers in between the clothes aisles and it was so easy to handle.  I also love the braking too going down steep hills I have no fear whatsoever.

I would say to anyone looking for a scooter to go for one of these.  They are robust, sturdy, well made, easy to put up and down and trendy too.  I would never have thought my life could have changed so much.

Thank you Movinglife for everything.”

As our parents age, it’s common to encounter new mobility challenges that affect their ability to stay active and involved. Watching a loved one struggle to enjoy life as they once did can be challenging. However, mobility scooters offer a fantastic way for them to reclaim independence and confidence. Rather than viewing these aids as symbols of frailty, we can see them as tools that enable freedom and participation.
